Alvin is the original « Go Big or Go Home » guy. He’s an emotional roller coaster – as his enthusiasm is boundless and his despair bottomless. The term “look before you leap” does not apply to Alvin, who is energetic, impulsive, charming, musical, and full of animal magnetism. What others might characterize as half‐baked schemes, Alvin prefers
to see as “challenging the ordinary”. And while Alvin’s plans often end in disaster, especially for Dave, Alvin’s intention is never malicious or mean spirited. In fact, Alvin soooo believes in his own vision, that he’s POSITIVE Dave will thank him for his great new idea. Eh…did we mention Alvin is delusional?
In addition to having an IQ just north of Einstein’s, Simon possesses a very dry sense of humor as well as keen wit. His Chess Master mind allows him to anticipate the inevitable disaster of Alvin’s harebrained schemes as well as devise the solution. In the end, Simon loves Alvin, although he secretly worries that they share the same gene pool. Simon is the oldest of his siblings, if only 8 seconds older than Alvin. But as Simon points out to Alvin repeatedly, it’s a very important 8 seconds.
If Theodore was a food, he’d be a Hershey’s Kiss. He’s sweet, soft, and melts in your heart. Theodore is the baby of the group. He’s shy, loving, sensitive, gullible, trusting, and naïve. In short, he is an easy target for Alvin’s manipulations. In fact, Theodore often holds the swing vote between his two brothers’ choices of action. Simon appeals
to Theodore’s better nature while Alvin goes Straight for Bribery. This isn’t to say Theodore doesn’t have a mind of his own. Like any younger sibling, he’s along for the ride and he’s honing his observation skills. And just when you least expect it, Theodore can speak a simple – plain and powerful truth that just make Alvin reconsider his hairbrained scheme (but not for long).
